When you have missing teeth it is important to replace them. Even though you can still chew your food and you are not worried about how it affects your smile, bad things are happening. Teeth are under constant pressure to move. SO when a tooth is removed, the tooth that used to bite against it and the one behind it will start to drift into its position. This can destabilize your bite.

Implants are a great way and often time the most predictable way to replace teeth. Look at your missing tooth as having two parts, the root that held the crown in place and the top of the tooth that you used to smile with and chew your food. The implant is a metal rod that is placed in the bone to act as a root. It is titanium steel and you cannot break it. After it is placed, a crown is then attached to the top of it to replace the top part of your tooth. You now have an entirely new tooth made of steel and porcelain. When done correctly, you cannot tell it is not your natural tooth.
