The price of a whiter smile
We believe that if you choose the wrong method to whiten your teeth you risk damaging your teeth irreparably by wearing down the delicate enamel coating on your teeth. Genes determine the colour of your teeth but they will inevitably darken with age as the enamel matures. Tea, coffee, red wine, curry and cigarettes all speed up the process. Different methods work best for different problems and your dentist needs to assess what caused the discolouration of your teeth and assess what method would work best for your teeth.
Whitening toothpastes are stain removers rather than whiteners and often contain abrasives which can wear down the enamel. Whitening / bleaching is process that lightens discolouration of enamel and dentin.
Some products have a high acidic content as legally they are only allowed a much lower percentage of the active bleaching agent. There is also the danger of dental trays not fitting properly so it will not be very effective or could spread unevenly on the teeth leaving a patchy effect. The whitening strips which are also available act like covering your teeth with a plaster they may only whiten your teeth in patches. Some products can take weeks or months to whiten your teeth just a few shades.

The procedure is carried out while you watch a DVD of your choice or listen to some music and the process takes just over one hour. Custom made trays are made for you and a take home kit is included so that you can boost your whitening if needed at a later stage. Nite White or Day White - £395
You do both of these kits at home, after a short appointment here so we can make the custom made trays for you. Once these trays are ready you can whiten your teeth at home during the day for one hour or overnight over several weeks at your own pace.
Optident - £175
This whitening tray only comes in one size which moulds to your teeth and is worn for one hour a day and comes with a 10 day supply.
